Headphone Trouble

Is the sound not coming through to your headphones? Click on the time in the bottom right corner. Click on the arrow next to the volume bar. A menu should pop up. Click on "Headphones" and the sound should come through your headphones now.

No more ChromeVox

Press CTRL+ALT+Z to turn voice (ChromeVox) on or off.

Change Resolution

Text too big for testing? In order to get the resolution back to its original size, press CTRL+SHIFT+0 at the log in screen.

Rotate Screen

Is your screen sideways? Pressing ctrl+shift+refresh keys (refresh key is the spinning arrow at the top of keyboard) at the same time. It will rotate the screen 90 degrees. Keeping pressing until it looks the way you want it.

Frozen or Slow Screen

Sometimes the chromebook needs to shut down to work better again. If your screen is frozen press on the power button for 10 seconds and it will turn off the chromebook. 

If you see an UP arrow in the bottom of your screen where the time is located, that means you need to restart to update your chromebook. Click on the "Restart to Update" words to get your chromebook up-to-date. Click on the title or the image to the left for a video on another way to update your chromebook.

Keyboard Problems

Go to settings by clicking on the time in the bottom right corner of screen. Make sure the keyboard settings are set to US. If it isn't, click on the keyboard setting and choose US.

When to bring it to the Media Center

Bring your chromebook to the Media Center if:

  • it has a dark screen

  • it does not connect to chrome

  • the screen is cracked/broken

  • keys are broken off the keyboard

  • the track pad is not working properly

Boxlights

Board isn't working

Is there a red flame in the corner of the board? If so, reconnect the board to the computer by disconnecting the cord and plugging it back in or restarting your computer.

Is there no lit flame at all? The board is disconnected and either needs to be reconnected to the computer or to a power outlet.

No display on the board

Can't see your display on the board? Press the windows key and the letter P key at the same time. When a window on the right pops up, choose "Display - Duplicate".

Board will not turn on

Is your projector light blinking or making a loud fan noise? Unplug the power to the board from the wall. Wait a few minutes and plug it back in. Try turning on your projector.

Calibrate the pen

Hover your pen over the flame until the calibrate screen pops up.
